Cuddesdon village pub wins second AA Rosette

Published on

An Oxfordshire village establishment has secured its second Rosette accolade from the AA automobile association.

The Bat and Ball, situated on High Street in Cuddesdon, had previously earned a place in the Michelin Guide for its contemporary British cuisine and received its initial Rosette in September of the previous year.

The venue relaunched at the beginning of 2025 under the Montgomery Group banner, with Ben Moss serving as proprietor.

The management appointed Rick Owens, previously employed at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, to lead culinary operations, under the supervision of executive chef Nat Berney.

According to Mr Moss, the establishment was dedicated to restoring vitality to this neighbourhood gathering place.

The team’s stated objective involved developing welcoming environments for all visitors, regardless of whether they sought a casual drink, a quality meal, or recreational activities.

The venue was characterised as a traditional community public house ideal for socialising over food and beverages.

Following twelve months of continued operation, the establishment has now expanded its Rosette collection to two.

An announcement appeared on the venue’s official Instagram profile on Wednesday, October 7, featuring an image of the newly updated AA Rosette certificate.

The accompanying message acknowledged the staff members and noted that twelve months prior, congratulations were extended for attaining the first Rosette.

During the intervening period, the culinary and service teams had continued their efforts by obtaining superior ingredients, preparing dishes with increased assurance, and providing individualised attention to each party of diners.

Inspectors from the AA revisited the premises the previous month, resulting in the award of the second Rosette.

The message expressed gratitude to the kitchen brigade, front-of-house personnel, and loyal patrons, describing the achievement as belonging to them.
