Residents are expressing worries that Jeremy Clarkson could be planning to leave Oxfordshire and settle in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, after Richard Hammond.
The two media figures teamed up alongside James May for BBC’s Top Gear and subsequently Prime Video’s The Grand Tour, a partnership spanning more than two decades.
Clarkson presently lives in Oxfordshire, where he manages Diddly Squat Farm situated near Chadlington and operates The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall in the Burford vicinity.
According to reports, Hammond has secured a six-bedroom Georgian property close to Abergavenny in Wales.
The residence, acquired for £2 million with cash payment, boasts a tennis court, wine cellar, conservatory, pond, and additional outbuildings designed to house his assortment of cars and motorbikes.
Locals have observed the television star grocery shopping at the nearby Waitrose branch, with one local resident informing The Sun that having a famous face in the town was delightful.
Now, certain Abergavenny locals are concerned that Clarkson may relocate to the Welsh town alongside his former colleague and companion.
The Abergavenny Chronicle reported that a collection of anxious residents fear that once Clarkson, described as Hammond’s former accomplice, realises how attractive Abergavenny and its surroundings are, the television presenter who became a farmer might choose to acquire real estate in the area.
A spokesperson for the group Not In Our Backyard said that Hammond has kept an extremely low profile, only occasionally appearing in the frozen foods aisle of the local supermarket, which unfortunately could not be claimed for Clarkson.
The spokesperson added that since the launch of operations at Diddly Squat Farm, Chipping Norton has descended into complete mayhem, and the agricultural programme Clarkson appears on utterly mocks hardworking genuine farmers.
The spokesperson noted that should Clarkson consider the Abergavenny area appropriate for a comparable television venture, it would entirely devastate their community, and this would not be tolerated, concluding that one former Top Gear presenter was quite enough.
