A sweet treat enterprise that recently opened in Bicester was targeted by criminals just 21 days after debuting.

Ramzi Sassi established House of Flavors, a patisserie and specialist confectionery store on Sheep Street, on March 7.

On Tuesday morning, the 41-year-old business owner arrived at his shop to discover intruders had forced their way in, causing extensive harm to the front entrance and breaking glass panels. The till was completely emptied of its contents.

Mr Sassi described his distress at having to shut the business temporarily while police examined the scene and repairs were carried out, though he was able to reopen for business that afternoon.

He expressed that being burgled so soon after opening was truly disappointing. He noted this was his first entrepreneurial endeavour after more than ten years working in Bicester and Bicester Village, and that he had decided to launch his own outlet when the company where he spent over seven years shut its doors. He mentioned that encountering this setback was demoralising and that it caught him completely off guard.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed the robbery occurred at approximately 2:30am on Wednesday and stated they are conducting extensive investigations.

A force representative said they were appealing to anyone with pertinent information or recordings to contact the force, citing reference number 43260145393.

Prior to the break-in, the newcomer reported that business had been performing favourably.

Mr Sassi noted that the people of Bicester gave his establishment a wonderful reception, and that they garnered wonderful responses for their baked goods alongside their selection of dried fruits and nuts. He observed that local residents had also demonstrated exceptional backing through online remarks and private messages, and that he and his team were deeply appreciative of all the kindness.
