The television personality was seen arriving at a magistrates’ court where he was expected to face a traffic-related accusation.

The presenter worked on the BBC automobile program from 2003 to 2015 before transitioning to Amazon Prime’s similar show, which continued until 2024.

Throughout both series, he collaborated with Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson, a farmer from Oxfordshire who operates Diddly Squat Farm and The Farmer’s Dog establishment in the local area.

May resolved the matter confidentially after being accused of maintaining a motorcycle that lacked proper insurance coverage.

He was scheduled for a trial following legal action by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency concerning his 1969 orange Suzuki motorcycle.

The 63-year-old traveled to Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning (March 24) by motorcycle, dressed in an orange shirt and coat.

According to the accusation, on July 17 of the previous year, May possessed a vehicle – a Suzuki GT750 motorcycle – that failed to meet insurance regulations.

The west London resident skipped the court appearance and resolved the matter privately, according to statements from prosecutors.

According to The Sun newspaper, the presenter declined to discuss the proceedings but inquired of the waiting photographers: “How did you know I would be here?”

The television personality recently brought his theatrical performance, Explorers: The Age of Discovery, to Oxford for a single evening at the New Theatre.
