A seasoned political figure is set to headline an event recounting experiences from a career that has covered both Westminster and the music industry.

The former Home Secretary will deliver a show titled ‘The Beatles, Harold Wilson & Me: An Evening With Alan Johnson’ at The Kenton Theatre in Henley-on-Thames on Thursday, April 16, before concluding his seven-venue tour at Thame’s Players Theatre on Sunday, May 31.

Audience members will follow his life story from childhood in a West London inner-city area through to serving in senior government roles, with his longstanding enthusiasm for music and early dream of becoming a recording artist woven throughout the narrative.

The presentation will explore how both The Beatles and his political hero Harold Wilson influenced his path.

He noted that the 1960s marked a pivotal decade, offering those who lived through it a chance to reminisce while giving others a chance to discover more. He added that the evening would include musical segments, humorous passages, and some historical background.

The show is divided into two parts, beginning with a conversational format featuring recorded audio to prompt discussion, followed by a section where audience members can submit questions.

The UK tour is being managed by Cloud9 Management and began in February, with shows arranged in Shoreham, Deal, East Grinstead, Cranleigh, Henley-on-Thames, and Chipping Camden.

During the time Labour was led by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, he served in several high-ranking cabinet posts, including Home Secretary, Health Secretary, and Education Secretary.
