Oxford Researchers Seek Participants for Alzheimer’s Treatment Trials

Published on

A study facility is looking for volunteers to take part in clinical research investigating innovative therapeutic methods for Alzheimer’s disease.

Professor Vanessa Raymont, who works as an honorary consultant psychiatrist and research and development director at Oxford Health, explained that these investigation studies are essential for expanding our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and developing treatments able to halt its progression. She noted that participants help bring closer therapies that could genuinely make a difference for people living with Alzheimer’s now and in the future.

The clinical research focuses on disease-modifying therapies that target the underlying causes of Alzheimer’s rather than merely managing symptoms.

Volunteers will need to attend appointments at the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford and may receive intravenous infusions of the trial medication, along with cognitive assessments, MRI and PET brain scans, blood tests, and standard health checks.

An experienced team of researchers will offer guidance and monitoring to everyone participating throughout the study.

Eligible individuals must be aged between 50 and 90 and have received a diagnosis of either mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s dementia.

Involvement is entirely voluntary and will not affect any existing medical care or treatment arrangements.

Further information is available by contacting the research team via memory.research@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk.
