A mental health ward has been honoured for exceptional teamwork and partnership efforts.

Wenric Ward, situated within the Littlemore Mental Health Centre in Oxford, was chosen as the winner of the Exceptional People Team Award for February as part of the Oxford Health Awards programme.

This accolade recognised the team’s compassionate approach, commitment, and positive impact on patient recovery.

Forensic inpatient social worker Amy and clinical psychologist Diana Saleh were both singled out for going above and beyond in their roles and fostering a supportive environment for service users and colleagues alike.

Healthcare assistant Olayiwola Fasuyi put forward the ward’s nomination.

Mr Fasuyi explained that each individual builds trust, ensures patients feel heard, and helps colleagues in ways that enhance and improve how efforts are coordinated.

He noted that their contribution to the ward is irreplaceable, and nominating them for this honour feels both fitting and well-deserved after considerable time.

Amy was praised for her calm demeanour and approachability while managing substantial duties, supporting families, and addressing everyday patient needs.

Mr Fasuyi emphasised her tireless efforts in securing stable housing for someone who had encountered multiple obstacles over several years.

Ms Saleh earned recognition for her unwavering encouragement, remarkable patience, and positive perspective.

Her capacity to prioritise others’ needs, even amid a packed timetable, was highlighted as significantly improving the ward’s overall environment.

Ms Saleh noted that receiving this accolade truly motivates the team, adding that working within forensic inpatient services requires reliability, empathy, and collaborative effort, and this acknowledgment reflects the shared dedication of the entire multidisciplinary team to supporting patient recovery and safe progress.
