A pensioner from Oxfordshire has acknowledged guilt for attacking his ex-wife, resulting in her suffering a broken jaw.

Kenneth Hancox, who lives on Quarry Road in Hornton, which lies outside Banbury, was due before Oxford Crown Court on Monday the thirteenth of April.

The 67-year-old defendant was confronted with three allegations: causing actual bodily harm under section twenty, brandishing a bladed instrument inside a property, and making threats to end someone’s life.

The court heard that the actual bodily harm took place on the fifth of September 2017, causing the complainant to sustain a fractured jawbone.

The incident involving a knife occurred on the sixth of December 2022, while the claimed threat to kill was uttered on the thirteenth of February 2024.

All three incidents happened at Hancox’s home in Hornton, a short distance from Banbury.

Hancox submitted guilty verdicts to the first two allegations, whilst the third remained pending before the court.

The prosecution consented to these admissions, and magistrates called for a pre-sentence document.

The judge indicated that the sentencing hearing would be postponed and that a pre-sentence report on Hancox was required. He noted that the matter had clear background circumstances and that further information about Hancox was needed. He stated that all sentencing possibilities would remain under consideration at that time.

Hancox will appear again at Oxford Crown Court for sentencing on the twenty-second of May.

He received bail until that time, bound by the requirement that he maintain distance from the complainant and all prosecution witnesses.
