Officers have wrapped up their inquiry after a shopper relieved themselves on goods at a shop in Oxfordshire.

The incident happened at the premises on Cherwell Street in Banbury at around 1:40pm on March 25.

After Thames Valley Police were alerted, the case was looked into as a criminal damage matter.

Detective Constable Robert Watson led the investigation and had called for witnesses who saw what occurred.

On April 5, officials released an appeal featuring a picture of a woman they hoped to speak with about the case.

The following day, police confirmed they were dropping their search for the woman in the photograph.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police’s Cherwell branch said the force was grateful for public assistance with their appeal regarding criminal damage in Banbury on March 25. The call to identify a particular individual had been withdrawn, though their investigation remained active.

The constabulary has now provided a final update on the situation, stating the case has been suspended with nobody arrested.

A force spokesperson remarked that the matter had been closed as the incident had been resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.

Earlier in the week, work was still underway, with a brief official note stating no arrests had been made at that point but their enquiries were ongoing.
