The Lord Mayor’s Parlour resonated with melodies as Oxford welcomed a delegation celebrating a long-standing partnership between cities.

A folk ensemble originating from Leiden, the Dutch municipality linked with Oxford through twinning arrangements, gave a performance for Mayor Louise Upton.

The musical presentation occurred during a morning coffee event held at the Town Hall, marking eight decades since the establishment of the Oxford-Leiden connection.

The ensemble traveled to Oxford to participate in the city’s yearly Folk Festival.

They shared the stage with youthful Irish dancers from Oxford during a concert held at St Matthew’s Church and performed at multiple locations throughout the city, such as the Covered Market and Leiden Square at the Westgate Centre.

The trip formed part of the schedule of celebrations commemorating the anniversary.
