Oxford Musician Opens Studio at New Cotswold Home

A planning proposal has been lodged with West Oxfordshire District Council concerning a Cotswolds property called Hoggs Barn, located in the vicinity of Moreton-In-Marsh.

The proposal seeks approval to transform existing stable buildings into a music recording studio, together with meeting spaces and wellness amenities. Additionally, the plans include constructing a new pool barn to replace the current hay barn structure.

Application reference 26/00745/FUL remains open until Wednesday, April 29, following the property’s recent change in ownership.

The submission aims to “accommodate their requirements for the site and the needs of their family and business.”

While the identity of the property purchaser has not been disclosed, the application documentation identifies him as a “very successful music professional.”

The planning statement explains: “One of the new occupiers of the property is a very successful music professional and has a requirement to have a music studio and recording room at the site which will allow them to work from the site.

“His partner also is a trained ayurvedic practitioner with limited numbers of clients a day.

“There is a requirement for a yoga studio, a treatment room and some further ancillary residential accommodation on the site including a gym.”

The application further notes that the proprietor operates a “music and recording business” and that the development could result in visits from other well-known musicians.

The submission adds: “They would provide the owners of the property with the additional space and facilities they require whilst not harming the National Landscape or amenity of neighbours.
