A sauna and refreshment kiosk could be added to an outdoor aquatic centre in Oxford.
The Hinksey Outdoor Pool on Abingdon Road ceased operations in September 2025 for the winter season, with plans to resume activities sometime between mid-May and early June.
The reopening of the 35-metre freeform heated outdoor pool has been postponed following flood damage at the site. This flooding was caused by Oxfordshire’s wettest winter in 190 years.
Despite investing over £200,000 in upgrading the plant room during the closure, further enhancements for the venue are under consideration, including a sauna and café.
Rob Jennings, contract manager for Leisure Solutions Community Trust in Oxford, said the team is exploring various potential upgrades to what Hinksey Outdoor Pool can provide for visitors.
He noted that these ideas remain in the early planning phase and that the trust will share any concrete updates with customers through their usual communication channels once plans are confirmed.
