A single person was taken into custody after authorities recorded 51 breaches on two major routes.

The Roads Policing Tasking Unit carried out inspections along the M40 and M25 throughout this week as part of Operation Treacher.

An unmarked police motorbike allowed an officer on two wheels to monitor numerous road users breaking traffic regulations.

These individuals were subsequently stopped and dealt with by further personnel from the Thames Valley Police detachment.

Authorities processed 51 violations in total, including one apprehension for driving under the influence of drugs.

The count additionally comprised 22 occurrences of handheld device usage while operating a vehicle, 12 reports of inconsiderate driving, and six instances of seatbelt non-compliance.

Thames Valley Police also noted three motorists without appropriate cover, two individuals missing a current licence, one junction signal offence, and another instance involving unlawfully darkened glass.

Three cars were seized for either being uninsured or lacking valid documentation.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said these Operation Treacher deployments form routine work for their unit and will take place frequently across their arterial routes as well as in town centres.

The so-called Fatal Five offences, which include drug-affected driving, phone distraction, negligent driving, seatbelt omission, and speeding, collectively account for roughly 90 percent of incidents involving fatalities or severe injuries on the road network, which is why such a proactive stance is being taken against those who transgress.

Any of those intercepted today could potentially have caused or become involved in a lethal crash, and the unit’s goal is to reduce road hazards as much as possible.
