The Japanese electronics company is removing several significant television functions, a move that has drawn fierce backlash from customers.

Some of the affected television sets only arrived in shops the previous year.

A support page on Sony’s website now informs buyers that adjustments will take place in late May 2026.

Viewers relying on aerial connections will face a notably reduced experience.

Sony explained that program information may not show for particular channels, and only content from recently watched channels might be displayed.

Channel icons will no longer appear in the programme guide, and thumbnail images within programme details will likewise vanish.

Sony has not clarified why it chose to remove these functions, though the company stated it was sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

The manufacturer has detailed eight unexpected alterations that certain viewers will observe from late May onwards.

Unsurprisingly, the disclosure has upset customers greatly.

On Reddit, user NewsCards noted that the move could harm Sony’s standing as a cost-cutting company willing to remove established features that 19% of their customers rely on, merely to cut expenses.

User tuppertom remarked that they can remove Sony from their purchasing list.

Sony announced that beginning in late May 2026, certain TV Guide and display functions will no longer be available on 2023-2025 BRAVIA televisions. The company stated that they appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
