A resident from Oxfordshire has been handed a sentence after smashing a window at his ex-partner’s property.

Jimi Monaghan, who lives on John Jones Close in Abingdon, appeared at Oxford Crown Court for sentencing on April 17.

The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage and one count of possessing class B drugs, specifically cannabis, in Abingdon on September 5 of the previous year.

The court heard he had spent one month in prison on remand after originally facing more serious allegations, though these were later withdrawn.

Judge Hassan Khan stated that Monaghan had shattered glass at the property and managed to enter. The judge also noted that Monaghan spent a month on remand facing more serious charges that were subsequently discontinued.

Monaghan received a 12-month conditional discharge. He was also ordered to pay £150 in costs, and the cannabis and a grinder were mandated to be seized and destroyed.
