Armed officers chased down face-covered riders on a motorbike across Oxfordshire on Wednesday (April 15).
The incident occurred when concealed cyclists aboard an electric motorbike fled from officers who were equipped with weapons.
This circumstance meant officers from Thames Valley Police’s Wantage and Grove neighbourhood team were conveniently placed to help apprehend the suspects.
As the personnel made their way back towards Wantage, they spotted the wanted men and the motorbike, leading to armed response officers detaining both parties.
A Wantage and Grove unit spokesperson explained that they do not only secure successful results within their own area, but sometimes they are called upon to provide support in other locations, and Wednesday demonstrated such a scenario.
After completing tasks in another area and whilst heading back to Wantage, we received word about an electric motorbike that had escaped from our armed response team in Oxford. The riders had their faces covered and were trying to avoid capture. As we travelled through, our unit observed the motorbike and the men, which directly led to our armed response colleagues placing them under arrest. At the same time, we seized the electric bike, and it will now proceed to be destroyed.
