A trial has been set for later in the year after an Oxfordshire man denied accusations that he murdered his mother.

Carl Rundle, aged 41 and living at The Park in Harwell, has been charged with one count of murder relating to the death of his mother, Helen Rundle, who was 64.

Thames Valley Police officers attended the Harwell address at around 9:35pm on Tuesday, January 27. Despite paramedics’ efforts to save her, Ms. Rundle could not be saved and was declared deceased at the scene.

A post-mortem examination overseen by the Home Office determined that Ms. Rundle died from multiple injuries.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed that the victim has been formally identified as Helen Rundle, aged 64, and stated that their thoughts are with Helen Rundle’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time.

Rundle attended Oxford Crown Court on April 17. He wore a brown jumper and was seen wiping away tears during the hearing.

When charged with murder, he entered a plea of not guilty.

Previously, proceedings had been listed for late July, though a fresh date has now been set for September 28, with the case expected to run for three weeks.

Neil Moore, for the prosecution, indicated agreement that this is the most appropriate course to take in this case.

Rundle is represented by Andrew Selby KC.

Mr. Justice Ian Pringle KC ordered that Rundle be held in custody until his trial.
