An application has been put forward to transform the former Oxfam outlet in the heart of Chipping Norton into an independent wine retailer.
Details filed with West Oxfordshire District Council indicate the charity shop located at 6 Market Place in the Cotswolds could be repurposed as a wine cellar.
The plans encompass installation of a dark green retractable canopy, a projecting sign for the street, plus refreshed signage and illumination on the three-storey stone building.
The canopy would display the wording: “Chipping Norton Cellars, proudly independent wine merchants” alongside signage advertising wine, beer, spirits and events on the shop frontage.
A business operating under the same name was registered on March 25 this year, according to official records.
The planning submission for the storefront alterations is currently being assessed by West Oxfordshire District Council, with a determination anticipated by May 14.
