An complimentary community presentation at the John Radcliffe Hospital will examine the critical initial phases of stroke treatment.

Scheduled for Lecture Theatre 1 on Thursday, May 21, the program seeks to teach participants how swift response can enhance recovery prospects.

The session will address identifying stroke warning signals and the urgent measures to implement prior to arrival at the hospital.

Additionally, it will examine life-saving emergency therapies and clinical interventions provided in hospital settings.

The presentation will also include details regarding the advantages of receiving care in specialized stroke units.

The program commences at 6.30pm featuring CPR and defibrillation displays in Foyer 3 of the Academic Centre.

An opening and overview will occur at 7pm, conducted by Damian Haywood representing Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Presentations will be delivered by Professor Gary A. Ford at 7.10pm and Dr. Kirubananthan Nagaratnam at 7.20pm.

An opportunity for questions will follow at 7.40pm, with the event concluding at 8.00pm.

Professor Ford, a distinguished consultant stroke physician, was instrumental in creating the FAST (Face Arm Speech Test) and establishing the inaugural rapid response ambulance protocol for stroke patients.

Dr. Nagaratnam serves as the clinical lead for stroke medicine at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
