Recent court proceedings at Oxford Magistrates’ Court included the following cases:
A 24-year-old man residing on Aston Street in Oxford admitted to one charge of residential burglary committed with intent to steal, which occurred in Oxford on March 7 of this year. He received a 12-month prison term and was ordered to pay a £187 victim surcharge.
A 57-year-old man from Penrhyn Close in Banbury was convicted of one count of exposure in Banbury on May 7 last year. The court imposed £650 in costs and a £187 victim surcharge. He also received a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, must complete six months of alcohol rehabilitation treatment, and is required to register at Banbury Police Station for seven years.
A 39-year-old resident of Schofield Avenue in Witney admitted to driving under the influence in a white Nissan Qashqai near the A40 and B4022 in Witney on July 25 last year, with 161 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. He was ordered to pay £300 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge, complete 100 hours of community service within 12 months, and received a 20-month driving ban.
An 18-year-old man from Galingale Close in Bicester pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating committed in Oxford on February 22 this year. The court ordered him to pay £85 in costs, £250 in compensation, and a £466 fine.
A 34-year-old driver from Queen Marys Road in Coventry admitted to causing serious injury through careless or inconsiderate driving on the M40 at Stoke Lyne in a grey Citroen C4 on December 14, 2024. He was ordered to pay £85 in costs, a £520 victim surcharge, and a £1,299 fine, and received a 12-month driving ban.
A 27-year-old man from Palmer Park Avenue in Reading was convicted of failing to provide information identifying a BMW driver who was alleged to have committed an offense in Banbury between August 13 and September 10, 2024. He was ordered to pay £650 in costs, a £173 victim surcharge, and a £432 fine, received a six-month driving ban, and was penalized with six penalty points.
A 32-year-old man from Islip Road in Bletchingdon pleaded guilty to nine counts of making off without payment for fuel at locations in Cowley, Bicester, and Frilford between July 2024 and January of this year. The total value of the fuel stolen was £726.99. He also admitted to two counts of shoplifting in Oxford on September 26 and November 21 last year, with stolen items valued at £413.85. The court ordered him to complete 80 hours of community service within 12 months, comply with requirements to attend appointments as directed by a responsible officer for up to 15 days, and pay compensation of £953.37.
A 32-year-old woman from Crescent Road in Headington, Oxford, pleaded guilty to using racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm, or distress through words, writing, or behavior in Oxford on July 21 last year. She was ordered to pay £85 in costs, £50 in compensation, and a £120 fine.
