Local residents in Oxfordshire have been urged to avoid part of a park in Didcot following its unexpected closure.
A portion of Edmonds Park, specifically the sandpit, was shut down from Monday morning (April 20).
The temporary closure was implemented after incidents of vandalism were reported during the weekend.
Didcot Town Council has told members of the public to keep away from the affected area and to refrain from using the sandpit in the meantime.
In a statement published on the social networking site Facebook on Monday morning, the council said the sandpit had been closed due to vandalism, that the Outdoor Team was aware of what had happened and was working to restore safe conditions as soon as possible, and asked people not to use it until further notice.
There is currently no information about when the facility will reopen to the public.
