The accessories chain Claire’s is set to close its remaining British stores this weekend following the fashion company’s administration filing.

The high street retailer went into administration in January 2026 simultaneously with The Original Factory Shop.

This came after the owner confirmed that last-ditch attempts to rescue the company had failed, placing roughly 2,500 British jobs at risk.

Both companies had previously completed restructuring processes and were purchased by investment firm Modella Capital the previous year.

Reports this month confirmed that every The Original Factory Shop branch throughout Britain had closed permanently.

The company, which employed around 1,355 staff, shut its Carterton outlet at the end of March as part of these circumstances.

It has now been verified that the Claire’s store at Oxford’s Westgate shopping centre will cease operations this weekend.

The outlet on the middle level had featured yellow promotional signage for several weeks, and by Friday, April 24, fresh notices appeared indicating only two days remain.

Similar circumstances are developing at Claire’s stores across the country, where matching yellow window advertisements alert shoppers to upcoming closures.

A spokesperson for the Broadway shopping centre in Bradford told our sister publication, The Telegraph & Argus that no formal closure date has been communicated to the centre. However, the location will keep trading until its stock runs out.

As in Oxford, numerous signs proclaiming store closure, everything must go, and reduced prices on all items are visible as the company attempts to clear remaining merchandise.
