BMW vehicle obstructs M4 lane halting emergency response access

A vehicle matching that description was obstructing traffic flow on the major route westward.

The incident occurred within Berkshire’s borders near the Oxfordshire edge, specifically at the Calcot stretch of the M4 motorway adjacent to Reading, on April 23, a Thursday.

Emergency crews responding with flashing beacons and audible warnings experienced setbacks in getting to a situation involving severe casualties due to the obstruction.

According to officials, the operator of the blue BMW 1-Series appeared to consider the middle carriageway his own territory, dismissing the emergency signals as irrelevant.

After considerable time spent urging him to shift position, police finally brought the vehicle to a halt with support from additional officers.

It quickly emerged that drink had impaired his capacity to react appropriately on the road, as tests conducted after his arrival at the custody suite revealed his alcohol concentration exceeded the legal threshold by more than double.

He now faces a compulsory period of at least twelve months without driving privileges… and the probability is high that this BMW will soon appear in classified advertisements.
