The local MP for the Henley and Thame constituency has welcomed Network Rail’s commitment to deal with litter accumulating beside the tracks after raising the matter directly with the company.

The undertaking concerns the Regatta Line section of the Henley Branch Line.

The parliamentarian forwarded a letter to Network Rail on April 14, outlining concerns about refuse visible alongside the line running to Henley station.

The elected representative observed that he welcomed Network Rail’s prompt response and their preparedness to introduce steps to address the unpleasant accumulation.

Previous vegetation clearance exposed numerous items ranging from traffic cones to drinks cans and confectionery wrappers, none of which had been gathered up.

He highlighted how important it was to keep the area tidy as the town enters the busiest part of the year.

The parliamentarian added that the Regatta Line functions as a main point of arrival into Henley, and it is fitting that the town’s entry point demonstrates the same commitment to appearance that local people and traders display in their own surroundings.

Residents dedicate considerable energy to maintaining how the town looks, so it is only just that sections that are hard to reach receive attention from whoever manages that infrastructure, in this case Network Rail.

Network Rail has announced it has asked its local workforce to arrange clearing the refuse at the earliest opportunity and will provide more information about future upkeep schedules.
