Two individuals from Romania have rejected allegations that they murdered and poisoned two men, among them a company director based in Banbury.

Madalin Dumitru and Adina Mihai, both aged 30 and residing at Sandway Gardens in Birmingham, made an appearance at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, April 24.

They stand accused of causing the deaths of Gary Mouat, 37, originally from Banbury, and Malcolm King, 80, from Gloucestershire, occurring in 2025 and 2024 respectively.

The two defendants are scheduled to face their trial on June 3 after entering not guilty pleas to multiple charges.

They have refrained from admitting guilt in connection with the murders of the two deceased men, manslaughter as an alternative to the murder accusations, as well as the administration of a toxic substance – specifically Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) – with the intention of causing serious bodily harm to the victims.

Additionally, they have denied involvement in a scheme to steal belongings from the two men who passed away and a separate scheme to steal property from three individuals who survived.

The three surviving individuals cannot be identified due to court-ordered reporting limitations.

Mr Mouat held the position of managing director at CN Glass, a business operating in Banbury.

His body was discovered at his residence located in Hazeldene Gardens, Banbury, on July 13 of the previous year.
