Published on

Law enforcement officers have arrested three people in Oxford after a major emergency operation in a city park and claims of a knife-related incident.

Emergency responders were sent to Godstow Road in the Wolvercote neighbourhood on Sunday night after something happened on Port Meadow.

Eyewitnesses say the incident involved a stabbing and that a man was hurt, although officials have not officially confirmed this.

Thames Valley Police said officers attended reports of a disturbance at Wolvercote Bathing Place close to Godstow Road at around 6.30pm on Sunday, April 26.

Two Oxford residents, aged 45 and 22, have been taken into custody on affray charges, and a 30-year-old from Ealing has been detained on charges of affray and unlawful possession of a weapon.

All three suspects are currently being held by police.

A force representative said on Monday afternoon that officers received notification of a disturbance at approximately 6.30pm the previous day at Wolvercote Bathing Place on Godstow Road.

Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and there is currently no wider risk to the public.

Anyone with pertinent information should ring 101 and quote reference number 43260204156.

Thames Valley Police has not verified whether anyone sustained injuries during the incident and has been asked to provide further information.

The force has stated that an unrelated medical emergency that took place at the same time in Wolvercote bore no connection to this situation.
