A 36-year-old man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls, with incidents involving touching their chests and thighs.

Oliver Cosh, who lives on Wensum Crescent in Bicester, appeared before Oxford Crown Court for the case.

He pleaded not guilty to all seven charges filed against him.

The charges comprised three counts of sexual assault targeting an eight-year-old girl in Bicester, with the offences taking place between the end of August 2019 and the start of January 2020.

There were also three counts of sexual assault involving another girl, aged between 10 and 11, during the identical period, plus a single charge of encouraging the older child to engage in sexual conduct.

On Friday May 1, the jury delivered guilty verdicts across all seven charges. Four of the convictions were unanimous, while the remaining three were decided by a majority.

Mrs Justice Lamb expressed appreciation to the jurors for their service.

She remarked that deciding the fate of another person carries considerable weight, and that their efforts had earned the court’s gratitude as they departed.

Cosh was remanded in custody while a pre-sentence report was prepared, with his sentencing hearing set for June 26.

James Clifford for the prosecution outlined the matter to the jury commencing April 21.

He explained that the prosecution’s position was that the defendant had sexually abused the two girls on multiple occasions throughout the autumn and winter months of 2019.

The jury would be shown video recordings of interviews conducted with both girls. In such circumstances, police record these interviews to document accounts while memories remain relatively fresh.

Mr Clifford went on to say that both girls had raised multiple allegations about the defendant’s behaviour, describing how they had been subjected to inappropriate treatment.

Evidence presented indicated that the younger girl alleged Cosh had touched her thigh, her genital region through her clothing, and her chest.

The older girl claimed he had gripped her buttocks, forced her hand onto his genital area while he was dressed, and made contact with her thigh.

Mr Clifford explained that alongside these allegations, the defendant had instructed and threatened the girls to stay quiet.

He warned ‘don’t tell anyone or I will harm your mother.’ Such intimidation would have a profound effect on a young person.

All of the offences occurred within a compressed timeframe.

Mr Clifford then walked the jury through the full details of each allegation.

One particular incident reportedly took place at a Halloween celebration.

The court was informed that Cosh reportedly took the younger girl into another room at a public house and ordered her to take off her top.

According to Mr Clifford, he made contact with her chest using both hands.

The court heard that the girl described feeling revolted.

The younger girl first revealed what happened to her teachers at school.

The older girl came forward after this initial disclosure.
