An investigation on the M40 motorway has led to police confiscating a Land Rover discovered to be carrying numerous registration plates.

Thames Valley Police announced that on the evening of Wednesday, April 29, the Land Rover was taken into custody following a short investigation.

The roads policing unit had received information suggesting a cloned vehicle was travelling along the M40.

A cloned vehicle refers to a car, motorcycle, or van whose identifying information has been stolen and substituted with the registration details of a comparable, legitimately registered vehicle.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police stated that during the operation, officers were alerted to a cloned vehicle thought to be on the motorway, and personnel were dispatched to locate and stop it.

Acting quickly on this tip, with focused searches of the area, they managed to find the vehicle.

Through collaboration and strategic tactics, officers brought the car to a safe halt while ensuring minimal impact on other motorists.

Once the vehicle had been stopped, officers inspected it and uncovered several registration plates, with enquiries continuing.

The spokesperson noted that after the stop, a detailed examination took place. This led to the discovery of various registration plates.

Investigations also showed that the vehicle lacked insurance and the driver possessed no licence. Further work is being carried out regarding the additional registration plates found.
