Pulhams is hosting a recruitment day, following a wage increase that makes its drivers the highest-paid in the area.

The event will take place at the Leonardo Hotel in Cheltenham on Sunday, April 26, from 10am to 3pm.

It comes as part of the company’s efforts to expand its driver team.

“Combined with an above-inflation-rate increase for wages, which has made our drivers the highest paid in the area, it marks an exciting time of growth for Pulhams.”

Pulhams is particularly seeking drivers for school and college routes.

The company introduced new pay rates at the start of April, including £115 per day for college duties and £100 per day for school runs.

Sunday drivers now earn £18.50 per hour, Saturdays are paid at £17 per hour, and weekday rates have increased to £15.80 per hour.

Mr Marion continued: “While we’re looking for a range of applicants during our upcoming recruitment day, we expect that the college rate will be particularly attractive to existing PCV licence holders.”

Applicants attending the recruitment day are encouraged to bring proof of eligibility to work in the UK and a valid photocard driving licence.

They must also generate a code using the www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence website, which is valid for 72 hours.

A full assessment will be available on the day for those wishing to fast-track their application.

Pulhams recently invested £8.17 million in 15 new electric buses and major upgrades at its Golden Valley depot in Cheltenham, which now features 16 electric charging points, a new bus wash, new fuelling system, refurbished offices, and improved driver rest facilities.

On March 29, the company also launched the X52 service, connecting Cheltenham and Oxford via Witney.

Mr Marion added: “We have recently invested more than £8 million into 15 new electric buses and depot upgrades, providing prospective drivers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of these brand new electric vehicles.”

Pulhams has been based in Bourton-on-the-Water for more than 140 years and currently operates services across Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties.

The company also offers private coach travel throughout the UK and Europe.

While booking is recommended for the recruitment day, it is not required, and walk-ins are welcome.

The event aims to attract both experienced and new drivers, building on Pulhams’ legacy of service and recent investment.
