A dining establishment located in the Oxfordshire community of Sanford, situated close to Oxford, will cease operations for a month-long renovation project valued at six figures, with plans to relaunch featuring an upgraded appearance and atmosphere.

The King’s Arms, located on Church Road in Sanford, operates as a Chef & Brewer establishment under the Greene King hospitality group. The venue will suspend service to customers beginning Tuesday, May 5.

This rural retreat, described as a ‘charming countryside’ establishment, will undergo a temporary closure to facilitate what has been termed ‘extensive improvements’.

The renovation plans encompass a redesigned interior arrangement to enhance customer movement throughout the space, a revamped bar section, contemporary furnishings and decorative elements, as well as fresh wooden flooring. The canine-welcoming establishment aims to create an even more inviting environment for patrons accompanied by their pets.

The establishment plans to resume operations in June, preserving its ‘traditional pub charm’ while introducing a selection of ‘modern comforts’, according to Greene King representatives.

The exterior of the property will also see enhancements, with the King’s Arms’ covered pergola scheduled for renovation. The spacious outdoor beer garden will receive new seating arrangements, decorative festoon lighting, and updated signage.

The King’s Arms serves as a sought-after summer destination for patrons wishing to enjoy beverages alongside the river, as well as for hikers, those operating watercraft, and gatherings of companions or relatives.

patrons can access menus and reserve tables through the Greene King application or the King’s Arms website prior to the June reopening.

The establishment currently has numerous positions available and is seeking to recruit new team members, with application details accessible through online resources.
