A Cotswolds-edge community faces potential isolation as highways shut down.

Beginning May 14, a 500-metre section through Aston Magna, situated north of Moreton-in-Marsh, will receive road surface improvements over four consecutive days. The highway will be inaccessible between 9:30am and 3:30pm daily, with no closures scheduled for weekends, concluding by Tuesday, May 19.

Local residents appear unable to reach the village by car whatsoever, given that every route into Aston Magna falls within the restricted zone.

The highway remains blocked for roughly one mile heading south toward Batsford and westward in the direction of Draycott. The eastern stretch from Aston Magna extending to the A429 Roman Road stays impassable across 1.5 miles, while the northern segment spanning two miles toward Paxford village remains shut.

An alternative route has been arranged to join the southern and eastern extremities of the closure zone. The path extends from Shoals Lane Coppice near Dorn Hill to the intersection with the A429 Roman Road, positioned north of Lower Lemington.

No additional detour options have been designated for entry and exit to Aston Magna.

The project is scheduled for completion by Tuesday, May 19.
