A major road linking two Oxfordshire communities will be inaccessible this weekend due to maintenance work.
The A44 through Yarnton and Begbroke, close to Kidlington in Oxfordshire, will remain closed throughout Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18.
Oxfordshire County Council published a traffic regulation order indicating the route would be impassable to vehicles from 4am until 6pm on both days, in each direction.
The closure allows for surface sealing operations, the order states.
This protective treatment blocks water penetration and freeze-thaw deterioration, one of the primary factors behind pothole formation on Oxfordshire’s highway network, extending the road’s lifespan.
The A44 shutdown spans from Cassington Road to the junction with the A4095, Grove Road.
Motorists are directed to use the A5096, A4260 and A44 as a detour, although emergency vehicles and properties along the closed section will retain access.
