Aston Martin has received advice about Christian Horner before potentially bringing the Formula 1 great on board.

The 52-year-old, who resides on the Oxfordshire–Northamptonshire boundary close to Banbury alongside his spouse Geri Halliwell-Horner, has been strongly connected with a position at the Silverstone team.

This appointment would reunite him with Adrian Newey, who now serves as the outfit’s team principal.

During an appearance on Sky Sports, analyst and former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok suggested that even someone possessing Horner’s achievements would not immediately resolve Aston Martin’s difficulties.

When questioned about Horner joining to help transform the squad’s fortunes, Chandhok acknowledged the possibility but pointed out that Horner is not a car designer.

He further explained that the team’s challenges extend beyond a single personnel decision, adding that bringing Horner on board would not resolve the car’s issues within the coming months and potentially years.

Chandhok emphasised that the squad already possesses one of the sport’s most brilliant technical brains within its facilities, noting that they already have access to one of the most accomplished technical minds in the sport’s history within their factory.

His remarks come as Newey has discussed the extensive overhaul required to update Aston Martin’s systems and procedures, with any on-track progress expected to materialise gradually rather than through one high-profile appointment.

The organisation has previously indicated there are no intentions to recruit Horner, though renewed conjecture about his future and the team’s performance has sustained the speculation.

Chandhok’s caution, delivered on Sky Sports and covered thoroughly by specialist Formula 1 publications, suggests that although Horner’s expertise is unquestionable, Aston Martin’s return to competitive prominence hinges on sustained technical advancement rather than expecting a single individual to perform miracles.
