A young person from Oxford was taken to hospital after a collision with a Mercedes vehicle.

Thames Valley Police has announced that its inquiry into the Sunday, July 26 event has been suspended while additional work continues.

Officers stated that the individual involved, understood to be a four-year-old boy although forces would not confirm age or gender, is still in hospital receiving care.

A force representative indicated that the injured party remains in hospital being treated for their injuries.

No detentions have occurred at this time and the matter has been suspended pending further work.

Earlier, officials called on witnesses or those with information to come forward quoting reference 43260383765.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Dynham Place and Girdlestone Road in the Wood Farm district of Oxford, where the child was struck by a white Mercedes A180 hatchback.

Emergency services were extensively deployed at the location, with Thames Valley Police officers confirming the youngster sustained serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Following the collision, residents raised safety concerns about the junction.

Juliana Cavalcante, a parent of one-year-old twins, described the location as dangerous, particularly given how many children reside in the area.

Albrwa Alouda, who has been living on Dynham Place with his family for roughly ten years, noted that the poor condition of Girdlestone Road worsens the situation by prompting drivers to weave unpredictably.

Upon learning of the event, local councillor and leader of Oxford City Council Susan Brown described it as deeply distressing.

She stated that her thoughts were with the injured child’s family.
