Oxford City Council has secured closure order extensions for three residential properties in Oxford following collaboration with Thames Valley Police to address reports of antisocial conduct and illegal drug activity at the locations.

The enforcement action affects one apartment at Pound House on Pound Way and two apartments at Cylinder House on Between Towns Road.

The orders were granted by Oxford Magistrates’ Court, which convened at Reading Magistrates’ Court, on 8 May 2026 and will stay effective until 8 August 2026.

Court proceedings heard that the measures were required to halt persistent antisocial conduct, including street-level drug sales, disturbance from excessive noise, and drug-related items abandoned in shared spaces.

Lubna Arshad, the cabinet member responsible for community safety in Oxford, stated that the council treats complaints about antisocial conduct with utmost gravity and will intervene when required to safeguard local inhabitants.

She noted that the closure orders resulted from an extended period of significant drug-linked antisocial behaviour displayed by occupants of these apartments and their companions.

The affected residents will experience relief after enduring nightly disruption, including illegal drug transactions and discovering drug-related substances within their shared living areas, she indicated.

The council intends to maintain close cooperation with Thames Valley Police and partner organisations to tackle antisocial behaviour throughout the city.

No individuals are permitted to access the properties with the exception of approved personnel such as police officers, council employees and representatives acting for those bodies. Limitations also extend to particular communal zones linked to the dwellings.
