A motorist has lost his driving licence after being detected travelling at 68mph along the A41 road.

Zahir Hussain was recorded by a staffed mobile speed camera on the A41 at Chesterton, situated between Bicester and the M40, on Christmas Eve.

The 52-year-old was operating an Audi Q5 when officials identified him violating the 40mph restriction on that section.

The 40mph restriction on that particular stretch was formally introduced on July 24, 2020, having been reduced from 50mph by Oxfordshire County Council.

Hussain, from St Marks Road in Chapel Ash, Wolverhampton, received a six-month driving ban along with six penalty points on his licence.

The motorist was also handed a £278 fine, reduced from £418 because of his admission of guilt, instructed to pay £120 in court charges and a £111 surcharge.

Thames Valley Police frequently shares updates on social media indicating that officers conduct speed checks along the A41 at Chesterton.

During one particular January morning, officers recorded 30 violations with the fastest vehicle travelling at 71mph within the 40mph zone.
