An independently owned eatery in Oxford is commemorating 45 years of dishing up freshly prepared pizza and Italian-style pasta dishes.

Mamma Mia, which launched its first location in Summertown back in 1981 before later opening a second site in Jericho, has established itself as a firm favourite among Oxford residents, hosting countless families and friends for relaxed dining occasions over several decades.

The establishment has built its reputation on traditional Italian cuisine crafted by hand, providing a reassuringly familiar presence amid an evolving cityscape.

A representative for the restaurant stated that throughout those four and a half decades, the venue has welcomed multiple generations of the same families. She explained that customers who were children when they first visited are now returning with their own offspring, which the restaurant views as particularly meaningful.

To mark the milestone, Mamma Mia has introduced a 45 Years – 45 Prizes competition. Patrons can submit entries whenever they dine at the establishment from now until approximately mid-September, with prizes on offer including a short break for two in Italy.

Additional rewards encompass wine tasting experiences and birthday celebrations for young diners held at the restaurant itself.
