Bershka to open first Oxfordshire store at Westgate Oxford next week

Bershka is preparing to open its first Oxfordshire outlet at the Westgate Oxford shopping centre next week.

Westgate Oxford initially said the store would begin trading on Thursday, October 29.

Centre director Clare Martin separately identified October 19 as the official opening date.

The retailer will occupy a unit on the shopping centre’s upper ground floor, alongside H&M and Urban Outfitters, with the new premises extending across 11,000 sq ft.

The space was previously used by River Island.

Hoarding around the unit displays Bershka branding and a notice announcing that the store is coming soon.

Once open, the location will become the first outside London or Birmingham to offer Bershka products.

Its interior will introduce the company’s latest store concepts and divide the floor space into three principal areas.

These will cover women’s trend-led clothing, the BSK teen range and men’s casual clothing, basic items, accessories and footwear.

Two payment areas and a large fitting-room section are among the planned features.

Westgate described the development as a customer-focused shopping experience.

Martin said the arrival had generated considerable interest among centre visitors, who had asked for an opening date since Bershka’s introduction was announced.

The centre is therefore adding another international fashion retailer to its tenant line-up.

Bershka was established in 1998 under the Spanish fashion retail group Inditex, with a young audience as its original market.

The label has since developed into an international business in clothing, accessories and footwear.
