A range of complimentary and affordable activities has been arranged across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse for the October half-term period.

Children and teenagers of all ages will find options including Halloween-themed events, artistic sessions, live entertainment and sporting opportunities throughout the week.

The local authorities have coordinated the programme to provide families with opportunities to spend time together while trying new pursuits.

Teenagers between 14 and 18 years old can enrol on the Active Leaders Course, scheduled for October 26 through 30, between 9:30am and 3pm.

Sessions will be held at The Junction in Abingdon and Didcot Leisure Centre.

Participants will receive instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, medical emergency response, event coordination and curriculum vitae preparation.

The curriculum also focuses on developing collaborative abilities and managerial competence.

Young people completing the course will obtain practical experience by assisting with organising complimentary multisport sessions intended for primary school pupils.

A complimentary navigation challenge with a Halloween theme will take place at Wantage Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 28.

The Xplorer event invites families to explore the grounds while completing activities.

The Active Communities team has arranged additional sporting sessions for Tuesday, October 28 and Friday, October 30.

Those seeking outdoor pursuits can participate in family golf at Drayton Park Golf Club.

Throughout the half-term week, The Beacon in Wantage will provide artistic and engaging activities suitable for families.

Aspiring filmmakers between nine and 16 years old can attend an Animation Station workshop focusing on stop-motion techniques on Saturday, October 24.

Younger children have been catered for with creative sessions at Monkey Makers on Tuesday, October 27, featuring painting, collage work and interactive play.

Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot will host complimentary visual arts workshops, live stage performances and family entertainment throughout the half-term break.

A vibrant ballet adaptation of Alice in Wonderland has been scheduled for families on Saturday, October 24.

The holiday programme concludes with a Halloween-themed presentation from K-POP ICONS on Saturday, October 31.

Cast members from the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime production will also appear at Cornerstone for informal daytime appearances.

Residents in Berinsfield have the opportunity to contribute ideas for a new Play Corridor project.

The initiative involves creating an enjoyable walking route incorporating play installations and historical elements.

Community consultation sessions will be held at Berinsfield Recreation Ground on Monday, October 26 between 2pm and 4pm, and again on Tuesday, October 27 between 11am and 1pm.

The Oxfordshire Play Association will facilitate interactive play and artistic activities suitable for all participants.

The majority of offerings carry no charge or require only a modest contribution, although several activities necessitate prior registration.

Comprehensive information regarding the full schedule appears on the southandvale.gov.uk/holidayactivities webpage.
