Oxford City Farm featured on branded bus after competition win

A transport company has revealed a specially decorated bus aimed at promoting a charitable farming initiative in Oxford.

Oxford City Farm, which finished second in the Oxford Bus Company’s 2026 Brand the Bus contest, now features on a double-decker vehicle as part of an award valued at £20,000.

The facility, situated in the eastern part of the city, enables residents to participate in agricultural activities and connect with the natural environment, with programmes centred on environmentally-friendly food cultivation, learning experiences, and neighbourhood health.

Cath Wilson, co-chair of the organisation, explained that the farm creates an open and welcoming environment for urban dwellers to engage with nature.

The site allows individuals to discover sustainable growing methods and the natural world while contributing to various duties such as caring for livestock.

The initiative builds social connections alongside producing food, with many visitors reporting significant benefits to their mental and physical health.

Securing second place in the competition presented an invaluable platform to communicate the charity’s mission throughout Oxfordshire.

The award package encompasses a rear bus advertisement, electronic displays inside the vehicle, and a twelve-week partnership with Get Radio, a collaborator in the Brand the Bus initiative.

Representatives and supporters travelled to the operator’s Cowley depot to witness the official reveal of the promotional livery.

Luke Marion, managing director of Oxford Bus Company, welcomed the farm group for the unveiling ceremony.

The competition serves to highlight the valuable work carried out by community organisations and charitable groups operating across Oxfordshire while providing them with enhanced visibility.

The farm conducts important work within the local area, and collaborating on the vehicle’s design proved to be a rewarding experience.

Observing the bus serving routes throughout the county will be tremendously satisfying.

The annual competition, now in its eighth edition, drew 71 submissions and accumulated almost 9,000 votes from the public during April.

A judging panel determined the champion and runner-up from a shortlist of ten candidates.

Hamish Law, commercial director at Get Radio, noted that one of the competition’s notable qualities is its ability to connect organisations of varying scales with broader audiences.

The farm maintains deep connections with its immediate neighbourhood, and the radio partner was pleased to help broadcast its message across the region.
