The Duchess of Sussex and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai were observed together at a London hotel, according to reports.

The meeting at Claridge’s in Mayfair was captured in footage posted to social media by other guests at the establishment.

The video showed the two women seated opposite each other in a private area of the restaurant, engaged in conversation.

Ms Markle was dressed in a white turtleneck while Ms Yousafzai wore a beige coat during their encounter.

The pair’s relationship extends back several years, with their most prominent public collaboration occurring in October 2020 for the International Day of the Girl.

A virtual event held that year, also attended by Prince Harry, saw them discuss the challenges preventing young women from obtaining an education.

Ms Yousafzai pursued undergraduate studies in philosophy, politics and economics at Lady Margaret Hall, part of the University of Oxford.

She completed her studies in 2020, remarking at the time on the difficulty of articulating her feelings of happiness and appreciation upon finishing her degree while acknowledging uncertainty about what would follow, expressing an intention to focus initially on relaxation and leisure activities.

The Pakistani activist achieved global recognition in 2014 when she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her advocacy work supporting girls’ education, becoming the youngest recipient of that honour.

Her commitment to the cause nearly cost her life two years earlier when she was shot by militants in Pakistan after publicly championing educational rights for girls.

Reports also indicate that Ms Markle had previously visited venues in Oxfordshire, including locations in Great Tew and Asthall.
