Rail services serving Oxford are experiencing significant delays during Wednesday morning’s rush hour as a technical fault has reduced the number of trains operating on the route.
Chiltern Railway connections linking Oxford Parkway and Oxford are operating behind schedule and with alterations following a signal-related fault between the two stations.
The rail company reported that a points malfunction is creating operational difficulties, with services along the affected corridor running approximately a quarter of an hour behind their usual timetable.
The knock-on effects are anticipated to persist until approximately noon, with rail passengers able to use their tickets on Stagecoach buses operating routes 2, 2A, S4 and S5 throughout Oxford.
Those tickets are additionally being honoured by Great Western Railway on its routes connecting Banbury, Oxford, Reading and London Paddington.
A representative for Chiltern Railways stated that affected passengers deserved an apology for the inconvenience caused, and that any customer experiencing a delay of at least a quarter of an hour would be eligible to submit a compensation claim through the operator’s website.
