A vintage Austin Mini has been returned to its rightful owner seven years after being taken from a location in the Wokingham area.
The classic vehicle had disappeared across the Oxfordshire border before eventually surfacing for sale online in North Wales.
The original owner recognised their former car listed through an internet marketplace.
The automobile in question held particular significance, having served as the proprietor’s initial motor vehicle since acquiring it in 1994.
Thames Valley Police initiated inquiries following the discovery.
Investigators established that neither the individual offering the vehicle nor the prospective purchaser possessed awareness regarding the car’s stolen status, largely due to its deteriorated condition and extended period off public roads.
The rural crime unit within Thames Valley Police coordinated efforts with counterparts at North Wales Police.
Through collaborative action, the motor car was successfully located and retrieved.
Despite the vehicle’s current state, its proprietor expressed considerable satisfaction at the prospect of reunion.
Officers from the rural crime taskforce noted the positive outcome as a demonstration of effective inter-force cooperation.
