A motorist operating a customised Fiat Panda received a formal warning from officers in Banbury following reports of inconsiderate road behaviour in the vicinity of a shopping centre.
Local policing teams attended Gateway Retail Park after members of the public raised concerns about the vehicle’s conduct.
The vehicle was discovered with its lights switched off, an altered exhaust system, and was being operated in a manner described as disruptive, incorporating excessive acceleration and speed.
The driver was issued with a Section 59 warning, a measure that permits authorities to confiscate the vehicle should either the car or its driver become involved in comparable antisocial motoring behaviour within the subsequent twelve months.
The driver also received guidance concerning their conduct on the road, was informed about potential repercussions for future violations, and departed the scene without further action.
Thames Valley Police’s Cherwell division stated that concerns raised by residents prompt appropriate enforcement action, and that routine patrols would persist in problem areas throughout Banbury to address antisocial behaviour and protect local communities.
