The entire network of Beefeater dining establishments will cease operations next week, with three sites situated in Oxfordshire among those shutting their doors permanently.
The closures form part of an extensive restructuring initiative undertaken by parent company Whitbread.
The company initially disclosed these plans in April as a component of a five-year strategic growth programme, placing approximately 3,800 positions under threat of redundancy.
Additional brands impacted by the restructuring include Brewers Fayre, Bar + Block, Table Table and Cookhouse + Pub, with all respective venues scheduled to close throughout the current month.
The strategic reorganisation aims to streamline operations and deliver cost reductions totalling £250 million.
Whitbread intends to transform certain restaurant properties into supplementary Premier Inn accommodation while divesting freehold assets valued at approximately £1.5 billion to finance continued expansion.
The hospitality group presently maintains a portfolio of roughly 86,600 hotel rooms and has established an objective to increase this figure to 96,000 by the conclusion of the 2031 financial year.
Whitbread chief executive Dominic Paul commented that the company continually evaluates ways to enhance performance.
He noted that escalating costs, including business rates and national insurance contributions, combined with market valuations below intrinsic value, prompted a thorough examination of available options to optimise value creation over the medium and long-term.
The process was described as comprehensive, with all alternatives considered objectively.
Paul stated that the new five-year strategy builds upon existing strengths while accelerating the overall direction, transforming Whitbread into a higher-margin hospitality business with improved returns.
The plan aims to deliver enhanced experiences for customers while generating quality growth and returns for investors.
The three Oxfordshire Beefeater establishments due to close on Thursday, September 10 are The Applecart located at Milton Interchange in Abingdon, The Longwall situated at Oxford Business Park on Garsington Road, and London Oxford Airport (previously known as Kidlington Airport) at Oxford Technology Park on Langford Lane in Kidlington.
Table Table will close 32 sites on September 3, with Bar + Block shutting 20 locations and Cookhouse + Pub ceasing operations at 14 venues on the same date.
Brewers Fayre will complete its closure of 89 sites on September 7.
