The King and Queen will receive the Sultan of Oman at Windsor Castle next month when the Middle Eastern leader undertake a three-day state visit to Britain.
Sultan Haitham bin Tarik is scheduled to arrive on October 20 for the official engagement, which will follow the customary format of diplomatic visits to Britain.
The itinerary is expected to include a ceremonial reception, a formal dinner and an exhibition viewing drawn from the Royal Collection, though precise details have not yet been made public.
The monarch previously encountered the Omani ruler during a private trip to Britain last summer, when tea was served at the Berkshire residence.
The Sultan completed his education at Oxford University, having studied at Pembroke College and graduated in 1979 after pursuing studies in international affairs.
Further postgraduate programmes were subsequently undertaken at the same institution.
The most recent occasion when an Omani monarch conducted a state visit to Britain occurred in 1982, when Queen Elizabeth II received Sultan Qaboos bin Said at Buckingham Palace.
Sultan Qaboos, who governed Oman for almost five decades, passed away in January 2020.
King Charles has travelled to Oman on four separate official occasions, with his most recent journey taking place in early 2020 when he flew to Muscat to convey condolences following Sultan Qaboos’s death.
During his time as Prince of Wales, the heir apparent made a two-day visit to the country alongside his wife in 2016.
