During a road safety initiative in Oxford, officers from Thames Valley Police detained two individuals on theft-related charges and confiscated five vehicles.
The operation was conducted by the Roads Policing Tasking Team in conjunction with personnel from Oxfordshire Roads Policing A Shift, Bicester and Abingdon stations.
The activity formed part of the force’s continuing Fatal 5 enforcement campaign.
The Fatal 5 comprises the primary contributing factors behind serious and fatal road traffic collisions.
These include excessive speed, handheld mobile device usage, failure to wear seatbelts, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and inconsiderate driving.
In addition to the arrests and vehicle seizures, authorities issued 29 traffic offence reports.
One motorist faced court proceedings and a stolen car was recovered during the operation.
Officers stated that the Roads Policing Tasking Team would persist in conducting proactive patrols across the road network, with a focus on targeting dangerous driving behaviour, locating those who commit offences, and taking enforcement action against individuals who endanger themselves and other road users.
