Thames Valley Police are continuing their search for Arthur McDonagh, a 33-year-old man from Oxford who remains unapprehended following a serious assault in the Barton area last month.
The incident occurred on North Way on August 17, triggering a significant emergency service response and temporary road closures in the vicinity.
Officers initially appealed for assistance on August 18, requesting that anyone with knowledge of McDonagh’s whereabouts contact them.
According to the appeal, McDonagh was known to visit the Garsington area.
The public was advised to report any sightings via the 101 phone line or online portal, citing reference 43260426989, while urging people to avoid direct confrontation and dial 999 immediately if they observed him.
As of September 4, police have confirmed that McDonagh has not yet been located.
On the day of the assault, emergency crews responded to Barton Village Road at approximately 11.10am.
A white pickup truck displaying visible damage and what appeared to be blood stains was discovered in the street amid broken glass.
The vehicle remained within the police perimeter as investigators processed the scene.
Despite speculation regarding multiple weapons, Thames Valley Police stated that evidence does not indicate an axe, bat or machete was wielded during the attack.
One individual required hospital treatment and was later described as being in a stable condition.
The constabulary expressed gratitude to local residents for their cooperation throughout the investigation.
Labour councillor Mike Rowley, representing the Barton and Sandhills ward, offered his sympathies to the victim, characterising the events as deeply distressing.
He noted that he had been coordinating with police authorities but anticipated no imminent developments, emphasising that their immediate focus remained apprehending the suspect and preventing additional incidents.
Councillor Rowley also praised the emergency services for their management of the situation.
Police have reminded the public that requests for information do not designate individuals as perpetrators.
