Authorities are seeking public assistance following the discovery of two significant illegal waste deposits in rural areas.

The incidents, believed to originate from a single source, occurred in the Kingston Blount area close to Chinnor.

The initial dumping was detected at the Ridgeway crossing along Kington Hill and comprised timber, plasterboard, insulation materials, wooden pallets, and miscellaneous refuse.

A subsequent illegal deposit was identified near Chalford Road and consisted of multiple Grant & Stone construction bags filled with plasterboard.

The district council has appealed to residents who may possess knowledge regarding the provenance of these materials to get in touch using the provided contact number.

When reports of illegal dumping are received and the waste is situated on publicly owned land, council personnel initiate inquiries and arrange for the removal of the offending materials.

Should the refuse have been deposited on privately owned property, investigators can examine the circumstances, though the obligation to clear the waste falls upon the landholder.

Individuals detected committing illegal waste disposal may be served with a fixed penalty notice carrying a ÂŁ1,000 charge.

Those found guilty following court proceedings face the prospect of an unlimited financial penalty or a custodial sentence.

Fixed penalty notices for illegal tipping have been elevated to a ceiling of ÂŁ1,000, while instantaneous fines now reach ÂŁ600.

Combined data from South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse District Councils recorded 1,092 cases of illegal waste disposal throughout 2024.

Statistical information for the current year remains unavailable.

Oxfordshire County Council has recently implemented a pre-booking requirement for residents seeking to access disposal facilities.
