Hinksey Outdoor Pool near Oxford is preparing to welcome canine companions for a special swimming event scheduled for September 27, which will serve as the closing activity for the facility’s 2026 operational season.
The aquatic centre will open its doors to dogs and their owners for a full day of water-based activities.
Representatives for the pool indicated that the occasion would allow animals regardless of their swimming ability to participate, whether they are comfortable in deep water or prefer to remain in shallower areas.
The event has been designed as an opportunity for pets and their handlers to enjoy the facilities together before the outdoor season concludes.
Facilities will be available between 8am and 5.30pm, accommodating dogs of various breeds and sizes throughout the afternoon.
The swimming sessions will enable animals to cool down and engage in aquatic play under supervision.
Admission costs have been set at £10 for each dog entering the water, £5 for accompanying human participants who wish to swim, and £3.50 for those attending in a non-participating spectator capacity.
